Dental implants and esthetic dentistry have evolved into integral elements of contemporary dental practice. Many patients visit our practices solely for esthetic enhancements. We must develop the ability to evaluate existing cosmetic deficiencies and design proper procedure for smile improvement. Solutions designed to optimize gingival form will be discussed including implant depth, spacing, emergence profiles and the influence of crown contours. Protocols will be examined to improve soft tissue esthetics when restoring implants and teeth in the same restoration. Dr. Smith will discuss the factors that make up smile design and the techniques to most predictably achieve the desired goals. A collaborative approach between members of the dental team will be emphasized through multiple case presentations.

Learning objectives:

  • Understand soft tissue differences between Natural teeth and dental implants
  • Learn how to develop soft tissue with provisional restorations
  • Why are adjacent implants more challenging to manage
  • How to collaborate with other dental team members
